The Kumawu Constituency has been proclaimed vacant by Speaker of the House Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

Following the passing of MP Philip Basoah, this has happened.

On Tuesday, March 28, Philip Basoah passed away following a brief sickness.

He was rumored to have attended House sessions in Parliament a week earlier.

"How sad this is. You were very busy in Parliament just last week, Hon. Basoah," tweeted my colleague, MP Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor.

Very composed and on-point, but also very active, particularly on the Public Accounts Committee where you and I both sit. I bid you farewell, my sibling. My sincere sympathies go out to your family and constituents. You did good service.

Before the legislature left for its break on Friday, March 31, Speaker Bagbin proclaimed the position vacant and notified the Ghanaian Electoral Commission. Ghana (EC) on initiating preparations to conduct a bye-election for constituents.
